Oakfields Preparatory School Earns Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction

Oakfields Preparatory School has earned the Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction. This fantastic award celebrates the school’s work to protect the environment.

Pupils and staff have worked together to make positive changes across the school and a result, environmental awareness has become an important part of daily life at Oakfields.

PUPILS TAKE THE LEAD

The school’s Eco Team has played a key role in this achievement. Pupils have shared ideas and encouraged others to make more sustainable choices, such as leading litter campaigns and supporting energy-saving projects, which have helped pupils understand how small actions can create lasting change.

Oakfields also created a wildlife ‘farm’ to support local plants and animals, giving pupils the chance to explore nature and learn outdoors.

CREATIVE WAYS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

Sustainability at Oakfields is both practical and creative. One popular project has been the school’s recycled fashion show where pupils transformed unwanted materials into imaginative new outfits. In doing this they were able to explore the value of reusing items rather than throwing them away.

Projects like this make environmental learning memorable and fun, as well as helping children develop creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

The Green Flag with Distinction recognises the passion and commitment shown by the whole school community and celebrates the important work led by the Eco Team.
