Nine teams, 90 pupils and an impressive 159 goals!
Pupils from across the Blenheim Schools came together for a fantastic day of football, friendly competition and team spirit at the inaugural U11 Blenheim Football Championships, organised by Duncombe School and held at Haileybury.
The tournament brought together U11 teams from across the group for an exciting day of matches, with plenty of goals, great saves and enthusiastic support from the sidelines. With teams competing in a round-robin format, there was no shortage of action on the pitches. The children gave their all in every match, showing determination, teamwork and some impressive footballing skills along the way.
After a closely contested day of football, Milbourne Lodge were crowned the first U11 Blenheim Football Champions, with Duncombe School finishing as runners-up following a fantastic run to the final. A huge congratulations to both teams on their achievements, and to everyone who took part!
While there was plenty of competitive spirit on the pitch, one of the real highlights of the day was seeing children from across the Blenheim Schools come together. From cheering on teammates to meeting pupils from other schools, the tournament was a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, share experiences and enjoy being part of the wider Blenheim community.
Events like this are a great example of what makes being part of the Blenheim Schools family so special. They give pupils the chance to connect beyond their own school, develop confidence and enjoy new experiences together. It was lovely to see the encouragement, sportsmanship and sense of community throughout the day, reminding us that school sport is about so much more than the final score.
A huge thank you to Duncombe School for organising the tournament and to Haileybury for welcoming our schools and providing such a fantastic venue. We’re also grateful to all the staff, coaches and referees who helped make the day such a success.
Most importantly, well done to every pupil who took part. Whether celebrating a goal, making a brilliant save or cheering on a teammate, everyone played their part in making the day one to remember.
Following the success of the first U11 Blenheim Football Championships, we’re already looking forward to bringing our schools together again. Next spring, the Blenheim Schools will take to the court for a netball tournament, offering another opportunity for pupils to represent their schools, enjoy some friendly competition and make more memories together.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
