Hydesville Tower School Pupils Raise More Than £1,500 for Local Families in 23km Charity Challenge

Pupils from Hydesville Tower School have gone the extra mile – quite literally – by completing a challenging 23-kilometre sponsored walk and raising more than £1,500 to support local families facing hardship.

The fundraising challenge brought pupils together for a day of determination, encouragement and shared purpose, with every step helping to raise vital funds for a cause close to the school’s heart. While the distance tested their endurance, the motivation to make a positive difference to others kept spirits high from start to finish.

More Than a Sponsored Walk

The 23km challenge was about far more than reaching the finish line. It was an opportunity for pupils to put the school’s values into action, demonstrating kindness, resilience and compassion while supporting members of their local community.

Throughout the route, pupils encouraged one another, celebrated every milestone and showed remarkable perseverance. The sense of teamwork was evident throughout the day, with pupils supporting friends when the challenge became difficult and sharing the satisfaction of completing such an impressive achievement together.

Every donation received will help provide practical support for local families, ensuring the pupils’ efforts have a lasting impact beyond the fundraising total.

A spokesperson for Hydesville Tower School said:

“Watching our pupils take on this challenge with such determination and compassion was incredibly inspiring. They understood why they were walking and embraced the opportunity to make a genuine difference for local families. Raising more than £1,500 is a wonderful achievement, but seeing our pupils encourage one another every step of the way was equally rewarding. We couldn’t be prouder of what they have accomplished.”

Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Hydesville Tower School, learning extends well beyond academic success. Experiences such as this help pupils develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of social responsibility, while showing that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact when people work together.

The school would like to thank every parent, carer, family member and supporter whose generosity helped make the fundraising challenge such a success. Their encouragement and donations enabled pupils to exceed £1,500, creating a positive impact for families within the local community.

The charity walk stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when young people come together with a shared purpose. It was a day that celebrated determination, friendship and compassion, and one that everyone at Hydesville Tower School will remember with pride.

Congratulations to every pupil who took part in this remarkable achievement.
